Admission and Registration Procedures for the M.Sc.  Business Administration, M.A. in Economics, M.Sc. in Information System programs

Common Admission Requirements

Minimum admission requirements for the MSc programs with both options are as follows:

  1. A bachelor degree or its equivalent from a recognized university with a GPA not less than 2.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent.
  2. Higher diploma degree or its equiretemnt from a recognized university with a cumulative GPA not lower than 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale.
  3. Candidates with lower GPA may be admitted on a conditional basis for a maximum of two semesters to prove good performance.
  4. English proficiency testified with minimum TOEFL score of 530 or IELTS level 5.5.

 Students are required to submit documented proof of English proficiency requirements before starting the program.

  1. Candidates have the choice to join the language center of the University of Nizwa if they want in order to improve their English proficiency and pass the required level.
  2. Candidates who possess TOEFL score between 500 and 529 or IELTS 5 to 5.49  with high proficiency in English during interview may be accepted on provisional basis

 

Admission and Registration Procedures for the M. Sc. Chemistry programs

  • A Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or its equivalent from a recognized university.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale or equivalent is required for admission into the Master Program.
  • Candidates with lower GPA may be admitted on a conditional basis for a maximum of two semesters on a full time basis to prove good performance.
  • English proficiency testified with minimum TOEFL score of 530 or IELTS level 6
  • Pass the interview

 

 

Admission and Registration Procedures for the M A Englishprograms

 

 

  •  BA degree or its equivalent from a recognized university in a relevant field; with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 grading scale or equivalent.
  • A Higher diploma or its equiretemnt from a recognized university with a cumulative GPA not lower than 2.7 on a 4.0 grading scale. A candidate must provide evidence of English language proficiency – either a TOEFL score of 550 (computer-based 123, iBT 79) or a 6 in IELTS (Academic).

 

  • Pass an admission interview

 

Admission Requirements in Educational Specializations (Education in Psychological Guidance & Counseling,Curriculum and Teaching Methods, MA in Education for Teaching Arabic  to Speakers of other Languages, Master in Education Administration):

 

  • A Bachelor Degree in Education or its equivalent from a recognized university with a GPA not less than 2.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent.
  •  The applicant may need to study remedial courses prior to starting the program and the student should complete the qualifying courses with a cumulative average of 2.50 from 4.00.

Admission Requirements in Arabic Language Specializations and Literature (CLASSICAL ARABIC LITERATURE,LITERARY CRITICISM, Master in Arabic Linguistics Studies, MODERN ARABIC LITERATURE   ):

  • A Bachelor Degree in Arabic Language or its equivalent from a recognized university with a GPA not less than 2.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent.
  • The applicant may need to study remedial courses prior to starting the program and the student should complete the qualifying courses with a cumulative average of 2.50 from 4.

                 

Admission and Registration Procedures for the M. Sc.chemicalengineering programs

  •  A bachelor degree in chemical engineering or closely related fields such as chemical process engineering, biochemical engineering.
  •  An undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  •  English proficiency as evidenced by a minimum TOEFL score of 530 or IELTS band score of 6.
  •  Candidates from other disciplines in Engineering or Science may be required to attend additional bridging courses before starting the program.
  •  Pass the interview held by the department.
