Discover Oman at University of Deusto (Spain)

 Coincide with the celebrations of the country's National Day, Omani students at the University of Deusto (Spain) organized an open day titled "Discover Oman" on the 21st of November 2013. The event took place in the university campus in San Sebastian and a considerable number of the University professors, staff, students and interested people from the city community attended the event, as well as various types of media to cover the event.

The activity intended to give the audience brief information about Oman's history, location, culture and tourism.

Participants expressed their admiration toward the mix of culture and traditions, which combine the past and the present of Oman's history. The activity also included a presentation to give some glimpse of what has been achieved in the Sultanate since Sultan Qaboos acceded to the throne in 1970. Students showed some brochures, publications and photos that represent the history and culture of the Sultanate. In addition, the activity included showing a film about the government achievements during the past period and also a short demonstration on the best attractive tourist places in the Sultanate. During the activity students showed some customs and traditions that represent Omanis hospitality such as wearing Omani cloths and offering Omani dates and coffee to guests.

It is worth mentioning that the number of Omani students currently studying at University of Deusto (Spain) from both Sultan Qaboos University and University of Nizwa is eleven students. Four of them are enrolled in Masters Degree programs and seven students are in Phd. programs as part of a grant program called "Erasmus Mundus".
