The IEEE Student Branch of UoN has been renewed with an initial membership of 35 students, 6 professionals, and Mrs. Hanan Mahdi from the Computer Science Section as IEEE Branch Counselor. The branch will continue to provide students with the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, faculty members, and professionals in the field of computer science, engineering, and information technology.

IEEE Student Branch is still one of the most positive elements offered by the Computer Science Section, in the Department of Mathematics and Physics, College of Arts and Sciences. However, membership is open to all graduate and undergraduate students of the university.

The University of Nizwa IEEE Student Branch held the first meeting in Feb 25, 2016 at 5B-10, from 12:00-01:00 pm. The meeting included variety of activities as follows:

1.        Welcome the IEEE members.

2.      Introduction about IEEE student branch of Nizwa University.

3.       Election of new Officers (The Student Branch Chair and The Student Branch Vice-Chair).

4.      IEEE 2016\ Activities.

5.      Introduction about IEEE Women in Engineering.

6.      The Process of forming IEEE WIE Affinity Group\Oman.

The DMPS and CSS Congratulate the IEEE Student Branch Newly Elected Officers

The event was graced by the attendance of the HoD, Mathematics and Physics Department, Dr. Ahmed Al Jamal, and from Computer Science Section, the HoS, Dr. Khizar Hayat, Dr. Mohamed Issa and Mr. Naeem Al Shukaili, and from Information Systems Department, the HoD, Arockiasamy Soosaimanickam, and Mr. Yaqoob Alrahbi

Mrs. Hanan M., the Branch Counselor, gave the first presentation about the IEEE and the future activities, she also covered the IEEE Women in Engineering and the process of forming IEEE WIE Affinity Group\Oman.

IEEE WIE will be the first Affinity Group in Oman.

Between the presentations the IEEE student members held the election and Mrs. Hanan announced the winners of Chair and Vice-Chair officers.
