This type of participation comes as the University believes that it contributes to building well orientations with students about their awareness of what is happening in the world of changes and that they must view this positively.  It also enhances the principle of optimal dialogue in solving the issues facing humanity.  Besides, it contributes to the making of resolutions that would achieve common international interests such as the development of the spirit of promoting peace and security for their people in Oman and the whole humanity all over the world.  Students will recognize the importance of humanitarian cohesion for ensuring a decent life for every person living on this small planet.

The Models of the UN Conference 2012 Program was based on several axes and four sessions: the General Assembly, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Economic and Social Council and the Security Council.  The participants received in each committee opportunities to gain experience in the skills of public speaking, dialogue, negotiation, knowledge of international affairs and leadership skills.  The Program also provided a chance for participants to represent countries that are quite different in their values, culture and ethnicity, which enhances the culture of accepting the other.  The UN sessions should go through certain protocols that had to be mastered by each participant.  These protocols include how to start sessions of the United Nations, the selection of the proposed agenda and voting upon the majority if the agenda was to be discussed at the first session or be left to other sessions.

The sessions provided the delegation of the University with a lot of techniques and skills such as how to start a discussion, giving views, respecting others' opinions and the best way to defend a certain idea in a manner that ensures the rights and suggests the importance of decisions even when these decisions were in contrast to what is desired.  The Program of “Models of the UN University Sessions” is in the heart of the UN’s mission and it is considered as a forum that brings together students who participate from different universities to discuss what the world is facing at the present time at various levels such as international security, peace, socio-economic development and human rights.  So, the concept of constructive dialogue is established today to find solutions for the future.  This is the most prominent feature of this Conference for the year 2012.
