The DMPS and CSS Congratulate the IEEE Student Branch Newly Elected Officers

The University of Nizwa IEEE Student Branch held its election in May 14, 2013 at 5B-10, from 11:00-12:00 pm. The event was graced by the attendance of the HoD, Mathematics and Physics Department, Dr. Mahmoud Jassim, and the HoS, Computer Science Section, Dr. Alaa Aljanaby.

The UoN IEEE Student Branch formation was approved by the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities in February 26, 2013 with an initial membership of 12 students, and Mrs. Solane Duque from the Computer Science Section as Student Branch Counselor. The branch was established to provide students with the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, faculty members, and professionals in the field of computer science, engineering, and information technology.  At present, IEEE Student Branch is one of the most positive elements offered by the Computer Science Section, in the Department of Mathematics and Physics, College of Arts and Sciences. However, membership is open to all graduate and undergraduate students of the university.

With the IEEE Student Branch Officers taking the lead, students can expect numerous activities that will make learning more fun and exciting.
