A Delegation from Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers of other languages is Visiting Dhad InstituteDhad Institute for TASOL in the University of Nizwa have received delegation from Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers on Thursday, the 9/7/2018 as part of the Visit Program prepared by the Institute this year. The delegation consists of 20 visitors from nine different nationalities and different international universities. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Ghassan Al Shatter, Director of Dhad Institute, and Ms. Nuha Al-Abri, the responsible officer for the external relationships at Dhad Institute and coordinator for the academic programs. The instructors explained mutual cooperation between the Institute and the students, who showed interest in subjects of common interest. Dr. Ghassan provides the delegation with a detailed explanation about the course, academic programs, curriculum and teaching plans in teaching Arabic for TASOL. The delegation was introduced to the activities that provided by the institute such as the language partner program. The language partner program plays an important role in creating a warm environment for foreigners, enables students to practice their Arabic in a comfortable manner with their language partners and accomplish the student’s cultural and language needs that are expected to achieved from the Institute. The delegation was guided to the facilities of the University. The students visited the Writing Center where they met the Director of the Center, Dr.Derek, who introduced them to the programs that the Center offers to its international students and to the students affiliated to the University in particular. Services are also provided to the Center of the Institute, which helps students raise their level of achievement. Then, the delegation visited the Arabic Calligraphy Center, where students were welcomed by Professor Ali Mazyd, Supervisor of Calligraphy. Professor Ali explained different types of fonts, such as Kufi, Rocca and Diwani, and Farsi. Attention was given to the fact that Arabic Calligraphy is an art that is associated with Arabic decoration, which is used to decorate mosques and palaces. The delegation was led by Rawan Alnadabi, President of the Student Advisory Council, who is a language partner and a representative of the Dhad Institute. It worth mentioning that the visit is part of the schedule prepared by the Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers. The delegation convey their admiration of gratitude to the care that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said gives to the Arabic language, which has a clear impact on strengthening the cultural similarities. They also thanked the director of the institute, academic and the administrative staff for their hard work in making the program successful.
