Head of Kolej Universiti Insaniah visiting Bait al Safa & Misfat al Abriyeen in Wilayat Al Hamra
The Dhad Institute organized a tour to the Wilayat Al Hamra in the region of Al Dakhiliyah as a part of the program being prepared for the Malaysian delegation. Mr Suleiman Al Abri from the Wilayat Al Hamra and the sponsor for the Dhad Institute welcomes the delegation. The Malaysian delegation, which consisted of the Head of the Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN), Professor Mohamed Fakhreddine, and Professor Abdul Ghani, Dean of College of Arabic Language at the Insaniah University, were guided by Dr. Ghassan Al Shatter, Director of Dhad Institute for TASOL in University of Nizwa, for a tour around the University. The first destination the delegation headed was the old neighborhood (Al Hara Al Qadeema). An ancient village where the houses were built with mud, (sarooj) and wood. Many TV series were filmed in this village since the neighborhood still possesed vintage old houses, such as Bait Al Safa, which still contains a gallery of the old Omani life. The delegation explored utensils, pots and old weapons that the people in the house uses for their daily life. Bait Al Safa is the destination for heritage lovers and ancient past seekers. After that, the delegation visited the Museum of Bait Al-Jabal in which they explored old coins, antique archives and equipment that the ancestors used on their daily basis . Then, the delegation visited Sheikh Mohsen bin Zahran Al Abri NGO Library that was established as waqf (a concept in Islam where permanent charity is given to residents of some specific places) for teaching the residents of Wilayat Al Hamra. The delegation were given information of some old books, such as the Quranic science books, interpretation of the Quran books, its Hadith, jurisprudence and the language science books. The Delegation expressed their admiration through the cultural and archeological heritage that the neighborhood and the country have yet to maintained over the past years. To end the day, the delegation headed to visit Misfat al Abriyyeen, unique mountainous village located 1,000 m above sea level on the mountain foothills surrounding wilayat Al Hamra in Al Dhakhiyla Governorate. The village derives its name from the Al Abri tribe, who originally come from Misfat Al Abriyeen and Al Hamra.The delegation enjoyed the density of the palm trees, the supplying flowers and the archeological houses that are based on geometric architectural characteristics.
