Dhad Institute Organizes an Excursion to A’SharqiyaDhad Institute for Teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages (DHAD Institute for TASOL) at the University of Nizwa organized a trip for the students to the province of Sharqiya on Friday, 8/7/2018.The trip is a part of the cultural program that supports the academic program for the students from the Australian Universities of Dicken and Sydney. Such activities aim to adapt the students with the Omani culture as well as to develop their language communication skills. The students left Burkat Al Mooz at six am in the morning and headed straight to Wadi Bani Khalid. It is a permanent flowing wadi with palm trees on both sides, creating a charming landscape, where the students enjoyed their hike. Then they head towards the East to Sharqiya Sands in Bidiyah for a fun and adventurous afternoon. They ended their rather exhausting but thrilling day and stayed the night at the Arabian Oryx Camp to experience the nature of the Omani Bedouin. They enjoyed a feast accompanied with Arabian music in an exceptional atmosphere while gazing at a sunset in between the sand dunes. The next morning, they woke up early in anticipation to catch the glimpse of beautiful view of warm rays of sunrise in the cold desert. The desert’s sunrise was no doubt another tale of beauty; depicted in the reflection of the lights on the desert sands and making it like attractive gold as if a great treasure was scattered in the vast land. The next day, the students headed to Wadi Shaab in Tiwi at Wilayat Sur. Wadi Shaab has an unique location by the coastal road where it combines a spectacular coastal nature with the mountains view that embrace many of the tourist attractions in the city. In Wadi Shaab, pure water descends beautifully from the mountain. They walked between the mountains for two hours to experience swimming in the wadi eventhough it was raining, nevertheless they seemed to be enjoying their time. The trip ended with the return to Nizwa after a weekend away from studies. Ali Wahhab, a student from Sydney University, expressed his unforgettable opinion on the trip , “The desert is a new and wonderful experience for me. I liked the harmony of quietness and serenity, the camel riding experience and the country's traditions.” These activities and trips are part of Dhad Institute's program to introduce the students to the components of Omani culture in social, economic and tourist aspects of the Sultanate.
