A group of students from University of Vienna from Austria and Copenhagen from the Kingdom of Denmark joined Arabic at Dhad Institute for TASOL.Written by: Khalil AlHadhrami 8\2\2018 Dhad Institute for TASOL at Nizwa University received a new group of Arabic language students in cooperation with the Universities of Vienna, Austria and Copenhagen in The Kingdom of Denmark. The students will undergo an intensive course to learn Arabic and Omani culture for a full semester. The first day, which included leveling tests of the enrolled students, in order to measure their levels in Arabic, based on the results of these tests which can determine the level of the student who will study in three levels scheduled at Dhad Institute in the university. The time spent by the student at Dhad Institute is a very important period in preparing him\her to move forward to develop all the required skills to learn Arabic language. The student must have a minimum level of ability to absorb Arabic language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking as it is the language of study for the courses offered at the Institute. On the other hand, the administrative staff of the Institute explained the completion of all preparations for the performance of the required tests, which will be performed in a complete electronic way, while the student is tested in the skills of Arabic language, such as reading, writing and the rules of using the computer and its uses in the international laboratories to measure the level of Arabic in which they are named the Moodle system. The induction day included a tour in the various halls of the university, also includes introducing the students to the classrooms, the university library, the academic and administrative staff of the institute. The faculty members also gave a detailed presentation that included some basic information the student must be committed to, in addition to the ethics and behaviors that students should follow during their studies in the Institute. They also provided some tips for students during their trips and integration into the Omani local community during their stay for trips and events which the Institute have prepared. It should be noted that this course includes a group of students from different nationalities, majors and various degrees. In addition, a cultural program was prepared for field visits to some archaeological, historical, cultural and economic locations. Moreover, lecturers and cultural evenings and a variety of lessons in the calligraphy. A special program was prepared for field visits to some educational institutions and language partner program for enrolled students in the course. They were given some tips that may benefit the students during their visits and their integration in the community through various trips and events, also a detailed explanation of the cultural and academic programs prepared by the college for this group. The second part of the level-setting exam was completed for students. The first part of the exam was conducted on the college's website before they arrived, in which they will be divided into different levels. |
