  <description>School of Nursing  , CHS, University of Nizwa Faculty Member Presents Research at International Conference in Thailand   Dr. Said Al Abrawi, Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, University of Nizwa, represented the University at the International Conference “Leadership for Global Health: Advancing Nursing and Health Care Systems,” held on 8–9 June 2026 held by Mahidol University in Nonthaburi, Thailand.During the conference, Dr. Al Abrawi presented his research titled “The Multivariate Relationship Between Academic Stress and Academic Integrity-Related Constructs Among Prelicensure Nursing Students”. The study examined factors influencing academic integrity among nursing students and highlighted the importance of supportive learning environments in nursing education.This participation reflects the University of Nizwa’s commitment to research excellence, international collaboration, and advancing nursing education and healthcare practice.  </description>

  <description>Empowering Clinical Practice: University of Nizwa, School of
Nursing and Nizwa Hospital Host Workshop on Evidence-Based Health PromotionThe College of Health Sciences at the University of Nizwa, represented by the School of Nursing, successfully conducted a specialized workshop on Health Promotion in Clinical Practice on May 20–21, in collaboration with Nizwa Hospital. The workshop was designed for nursing staff at Nizwa Hospital to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and community-wide wellness. As healthcare shifts toward proactive models, the workshop aimed to equip staff nurses with the theoretical foundations, digital tools, and evaluation strategies necessary to lead health promotion initiatives within a secondary care environment.  The workshop featured a distinguished team of presenters from the School of Nursing, including Dr. Said Al Abrawi (Technology &amp; Innovation in Health Promotion), Dr. Nasra Al Maamari (Clinical Health Promotion), Dr. Mahmoud Musleh (Planning &amp; Evaluation in Health Promotion), Dr. Arnel Salgado (Community Health Promotion), and Ms. Leahleonila Tungcul (Foundations of Health Promotion).    The sessions were designed to be highly interactive and included group discussions, collaborative activities, case-based learning, and practical applications that encouraged active engagement among participants. The workshop highlighted the vital role of healthcare professionals in promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and supporting patient wellbeing across different healthcare settings.Participants expressed appreciation for the practical nature of the workshop and the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas with experts from both academic and clinical sectors. The event also emphasized the importance of academic-clinical partnerships in advancing healthcare education and improving the quality of healthcare services in the Sultanate of Oman.This workshop reflects the University of Nizwa’s ongoing commitment to professional development, community engagement, and strengthening collaboration with healthcare institutions to support excellence in healthcare practice and education.  </description>

  <description>University of Nizwa Students Explore Media Work Environment at the Ministry of InformationWritten by: Sundos Said AlmamariOn May 18, students from the Media and Journalism Group and the Departments of English Language and Translation at the University of Nizwa paid a field visit to the Ministry of Information as part of an academic program aimed at enhancing their understanding of media institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and familiarizing them with professional practices across various media sectors, thereby connecting theoretical study with practical application in a real media environment.The tour began at the radio building, where students had the opportunity to observe the live 5:00 p.m. news broadcast on Oman FM Radio, allowing them to witness the workflow of radio broadcasting in real time. The delegation also met with the Head of Oman FM Radio, who delivered a presentation on the station’s daily operations, achievements, and its role in supporting the national media landscape. The visit also included discussion sessions with several radio presenters, who shared insights into their professional journeys, as well as the challenges and opportunities within radio broadcasting.The students then moved to the News Center, where they watched the live television news bulletin broadcast at 5:00 p.m. and gained firsthand exposure to the newsroom environment. They also attended a presentation by Ibrahim Al Salmi, Director General of Oman TV and the Oman News Agency, who explained the stages of news production, from gathering and drafting news material to editing and final broadcasting, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, credibility, and accuracy.The tour also included visits to the editorial rooms and news office, where editors and producers explained journalistic workflows, fact-checking procedures, and newsroom coordination efforts to ensure high-quality content. Students were also given the opportunity to interact with Oman TV presenters and learn more about the nature and daily challenges of television broadcasting.At the Oman News Agency, students explored aspects of Omani media history prior to the 1980s and viewed a collection of old media equipment, including cameras, recording devices, and microphones, in addition to a photo archive documenting the development of media in the Sultanate over the decades. They were also introduced to the agency’s editorial policy and its role in covering local and international events according to professional standards.The program concluded at the television production studios, where students observed the television production environment up close and learned about studio equipment as well as the processes involved in preparing and broadcasting programs, giving them a comprehensive practical understanding of media work within television institutions.   </description>

The seminars highlighted important contemporary issues in nursing education and healthcare practice, reflecting the university’s commitment to advancing scientific research and community-oriented healthcare knowledge.  The first seminar was conducted on Sunday, 10 May 2026, by Dr. Said Masoud Al Abrawi, Assistant Professor at CHS. His presentation, titled “The Relationships Among Prelicensure Nursing Students’ Levels of Academic Stress Factors and Levels of Constructs that Impact Academic Integrity,” examined the relationship between academic stress among nursing students and factors influencing academic integrity. The seminar shed light on the challenges faced by nursing students and highlighted the importance of promoting ethical academic practices within higher education institutions.The second seminar held on Sunday, 17 May 2026, was presented by Dr. Nasra Al Maamari, Assistant Professor at CHS. Her presentation, titled “Omani Intensive Care Nurses’ Perceptions Of The Meaning Of Family Quality-Time” explored the perspectives of Omani intensive care nurses regarding the importance and meaning of quality time shared among family members. The seminar addressed the social and emotional dimensions of healthcare professions and emphasized the role of family relationships in supporting nurses’ well-being and professional performance.</description>

The event drew a vibrant audience of faculty, staff, and students from across the University of Nizwa, fostering lively discussions on the therapeutic potential of bee products. Leading the session was Dr. Hassan Al Lawati, a renowned expert holding a PhD in Apiculture. In his engaging presentation, Dr. Al Lawati delved into the intricate composition of bee venom, highlighting its key bioactive components such as melittin, apamin, and phospholipase A2, which contribute to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. He explored a range of bee products—including honey, propolis, royal jelly, and venom—and their historical and modern applications in apitherapy, a natural healing practice rooted in beekeeping traditions.Complementing the talk was Ms Anwar Al Aufi, an MSc student in Industrial Pharmacy, who shared insights on venoms and pharmaceutical products involving derived compounds from it. The seminar underscored the growing interest in natural therapeutics within pharmaceutical sciences, particularly in Oman’s rich apicultural heritage. Participants praised the event for its blend of scientific rigor and accessibility, sparking questions on treatable disease conditions and potential interactions with medications or health states. May 11, 2026, titled “Enhancing Scholarly Research in the
AI Era: Advanced Database Searching &amp; Reference Management”  

Led by Mr. Mohammed Al Husani, Assistant Director,
University Library, this workshop is designed to empower faculty with advanced
skills to efficiently discover, manage, and utilize scholarly information
through the Oman Virtual Science Library (Masader). Participants will explore
modern research tools, including citation management and AI-enhanced database
features, to enhance their academic productivity and research impact.
