HoD'S Message

I welcome all the readers to the Department of Information Systems, founded in 2004 together with the inception of the University of Nizwa. We offer Diploma, Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Information Systems. Also, we have introduced a new major in Web Design and Information Security since Fall 2015. All these academic programs are taught with the latest updated information in the field of Information Systems. All our courses are taught with both theoretical and practical knowledge and match with the requirements and demands of the job market. We have young, dynamic, experienced and committed faculty members from diverse countries and they foster critical and analytical thinking in our students, in order to develop the necessary skills for success in their chosen careers.

The mission of the Department of Information Systems is to educate and empower students by providing them general and specialized knowledge that will upgrade their learning and research expertise in Information Systems and Information Technology knowledge.

Objectives

The Department of Information Systems aims to:

  2. Build the leadership and interpersonal skills of students while upholding moral and ethical values in a diversified work culture.
  3. Produce employable and successful graduates who are confident, motivated  and responsive to the needs of the dynamic global market.
  4. Broaden students’ knowledge by engaging them into research and life-long learning activities that will contribute to the society and the country’s Information Systems and Information Technology development efforts.
  5. Foster excellence and quality culture by strictly implementing quality assurance processes and measures in all academic and non-academic activities in the Department.
