DMPS PROFILE

The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciencesequip the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote scientific and technological development. Since its establishment, the DMPS has been striving to become a national academic center of excellence in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Computer Sciences respected nationally and internationally.

The DMPS has four sections:

• Computer Science
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Statistics

These sections are expected to foster knowledge and expertise and provide students an opportunity

to study the courses in a sustained and intensive manner, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary studies and interaction. 

Such strategy reveals the desire of the department to follow the modern trend of offering broad-based academic programs that encourage students to become well-rounded learners.

The DMPS also caters basic courses like pre-calculus, calculus, mathematical economics, introduction to statistics, and computer skills to other colleges.

The DMPS encourages its distinguished faculty to be productive and active contributors in their respective fields.

In addition to their instructional role the, faculty of DMPS is engaged in a variety of quality research and they try to generate considerable funds for research and equipment grants.

The DMPS stresses its commitment to the highest levels of excellence in teaching, research and its unyielding mission to produce quality graduates who will impact the progress of the Sultanate in positive and profound ways.
