Nursing Skills Laboratories
The skills laboratories were primarily created to help meet the vision and mission of the School of Nursing to be the center of quality nursing education in the Sultanate of Oman. In this regard, the School always endeavors to provide quality nursing education programs by offering dynamic curricula that prepare graduates in their present and future roles in the health care system. It ensures that guidance and opportunities are constantly available for students to develop their intellectual and physical potentials and to master the knowledge and skills necessary to practice professional nursing.
Equipped with facilities for clinical simulation, the nursing skills laboratories provide a unique learning environment for the students to practice and enhance their nursing skills, employ their critical thinking, develop their clinical decision making abilities, and train them to apply ethical principles in their nursing care.
The School of Nursing consists of four skills laboratories namely Foundation of Nursing, Adult Health Nursing, Maternal, Child and Community Health Nursing and Critical Care Nursing. Each laboratory has 7 to 8 patient beds with low and medium fidelity manikins and simulators, medical equipment and other hospital items needed by the students during their skills laboratory sessions. These laboratories are managed and maintained by experienced Laboratory Coordinators.
