SCHOOL OF NURSING PROFILE

 The School of Nursing offers programs that provide students with a combination of theory and practice. Theory component of a course is taught in the classroom and online or blended mode. Opportunities to practice skills are done in well-equipped nursing laboratories prior to placements in major hospitals, clinics, community health centers and schools.

Our clinical placement and internship programs equip students with necessary practical experiences in order to adapt to their future roles as competent professional nurses. 

The School of Nursing (SON) is one of the three (3) schools in the College of Health Sciences, University of Nizwa that was established in 2004 where academic programs offered are carefully designed to meet immediate societal needs locally and regionally.

Students are enrolled in either the Bachelor (BSN) or Diploma (DN) programs. Graduates of the Diploma program may opt to continue to the Bachelor program through the BSN Bridging. The School of Nursing also accepts international students into its programs. Currently, our international students come from Philippines Somalia, Tanzania and Jordan. Since 2010, the SON has produced nursing graduates in the BSN and DN programs. Most of these graduates are currently employed in both government and private sectors in the Sultanate of Oman. The figure below shows that SON has 452 graduates in AY 2015-2016 to 2023-2024.

 

 

 

 

 

With the help of a professionally caring and diverse faculty, the School of Nursing provides an atmosphere conducive to the development of local and international students succeed towards the attainment of their educational and professional career goals.

Our current Nursing faculty are all full-time, involved in teaching and/or evaluating students in didactic, clinical, and/or laboratory settings. The distribution of SON faculty by academic rank is given below:
