Pharmacy students of College of Pharmacy  & Nursing  bags First Prize in Quiz competition on the occasion of World Pharmacist day Celebrations held at National University of Science & Technology, Muscat, October 4, 2022 

Pharmacy students of School of Pharmacy, University of Nizwa participated in the World Pharmacists Day celebrations conducted by National University on October 4, 2022. The event involved quiz competitions between the representative teams consisting of pharmacy students from various pharmacy colleges of Sultanate of Oman.  The teams consisted of four members from participating colleges, University of Nizwa,, Higher College of Technology, National University and Oman College of Health Sciences.

The representative team from Pharmacy School of UoN consisted of four students: Mr. Ali Awadh Ramdan, Mr. Ibrahim Hamza Al Muhana, Mr. Waleed Abdullah Al Maawali, and Mr.Mustafa Safa Al-Bayati. The teams of University of Nizwa and Higher College of Technology were qualified for the final stage of the competition.  The competition concluded with the victory of pharmacy students from University of Nizwa who won the first prize. The sponsor of the ceremony honored all the participants and winners of the competition.

 

School of Pharmacy Student receives Best Research Poster Presentation Award

 

Mr. SULEIMAN MASOOD SAID AL HUMAIMI, Bridging Pharmacy student at SoP, CPN, has presented a research poster at ICDD e-Conference 2021 at RAK College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE on May 23-24 and secured the Best Undergraduate Student e-Poster Presentation. The research titled "Assessment of polypharmacy in geriatric patient prescriptions at tertiary care setting of Sultanate of Oman" was done under the supervision of Dr.Sabin Thomas, Assistant Professor, SOP, CPN.
 

 


 

Final year Pharmacy students of  School of Pharmacy  bags First Prize in Quiz competition  on the occasion of World Pharmacist day Celebrations held at National University of Science & Technology,Muscat, September 30, 2019 

The final year students of School of Pharmacy, University of Nizwa participated in the celebration of the World Pharmacist Day held at the National University (NU) of Science and Technology on Monday the 30th of September, 2019. The event involved some competitions between the representative teams consisting of final year pharmacy students from various pharmacy institutions. The representative team from Pharmacy School of UoN consisted of four students: Ms.Hajar Khalid Al-Hajeri, Mr.Mohammed Mustafa El-Said, Ms.Basant Tarek Amin, and Mr.Mohammed Safa Al-Bayati. The team took part in an OTC quiz competition which extended over two stages. The three teams were asked five different questions each on the first stage, in which one team was eliminated from the competition, leaving behind the UoN team and NU team. The second stage consisted of two medical cases in which the teams were asked to state their intervention as pharmacist to ensure patient safety. The competition concluded with the victory of University of Nizwa students, with a difference of two points. The event highlighted the importance of the pharmacist role in providing healthcare to patients, and acted as a bridge between different pharmacy colleges around the Sultanate of Oman to aid communication in the health care profession.

 

 


School of Pharmacy Student as a Speaker at the 2nd National and 1st World Patient Safety Day Symposium 2019, Muscat

The research conducted by Mr.Ahmed Wameath Shawqi (Student, School of Pharmacy) and Dr.Sabin Thomas (Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, Project supervisor and Co-author) was chosen for presentation at the first plenary session of the Symposium.  The symposium was attended by 400  professionals from government and private health care institutions in the Sultanate. Mr.Ahmed Wameath was one among the 8 speakers including WHO representatives, Professors from International Universities and Administrators from Health care setups.

                                      

The  Directorate General Quality Assurance Center, Ministry of Health, organised the symposium at the Sheraton Hotel, Muscat on 17th  September 2019. The event was about Patient Safety: A Global Health Priority under the theme Polypharmacy. The topic presented was “Survey on Knowledge of Asthma Medications and Skills in Inhaler Techniques among Pharmacy Professionals in Muscat and Dhakiliyah Governorates, Oman”.

 

 

                                         

 


 

School of Pharmacy student wins the Best Poster Award (First Prize) in Second National  and First World Patient Safety Day 

The scientific poster presented by Ms. Maisaa Ambusaidi (Student, School of Pharmacy) and Dr. Jimmy Jose (Associate Professor, School of Pharmacy, Project supervisor and Co-author) was awarded the Best Poster Award (First Prize) at the 'Second National  and First World Patient Safety Day'. 

The event was organised by Directorate General Quality Assurance Center, Ministry of Health at Sheraton Hotel, Muscat on 17 th September. The title of the poster is "A survey on assessing knowledge and practice of public on use of drugs without prescription  in the Wilayat of Nizwa".

School of Pharmacy Students Earns the Best Poster Award (First & Second Prize) in Oman Pharmaceutical Conference 2019

The scientific poster presented by Ms. May Mahadi Mosaa Deyab, (Student, School of Pharmacy) and Dr. Manickam Balamurugan (Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean (UG Studies), School of Pharmacy, Project supervisor and Co-author) was awarded the Best Poster Award (First Prize) at the ‘Oman Pharmaceutical Conference 2019'The title of the poster is " A STUDY ON THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND THE EFFECT OF OMANI GARLIC OIL AS PERMEATION ENHANCER ON THE CHITOSAN BASED DICLOFENAC SODIUM TRANSDERMAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS".The research work is co-supervised by Dr. Afaf Mohammed Weli (Associate Professor).

The scientific poster presented by Ms. Marwa Rabie Ramadan Abdelaziz, (Student, School of Pharmacy) and Dr. Manickam Balamurugan (Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean (UG Studies), School of Pharmacy, Project supervisor and Co-author) was awarded the Best Poster Award (Second Prize) at the ‘Oman Pharmaceutical Conference 2019'.The title of the poster is "FORMULATION AND IN-VITRO EVALUATION OF PARACETAMOL TABLETS USING FICUS CARICA FRUIT MUCILAGE AS A NATURAL BINDING AGENT-A PILOT STUDY ".

The event was organized by the National University of Science & Technology, Muscat on the 3rd and 4th December 2019.
