University Overview
A Beacon of Scholarship & Learning
The University of Nizwa (UoN) is the first non-profit academic Omani institution, established in Nizwa in 2004 at the heartland of Oman’s history, arts, culture and scholarly learning; inspired by such estimable heritage and traditions. As a major pioneering, entrepreneurial project in Oman, the University has evolved in the course of only fourteen years into the top national private Higher Education Institution (HEI) according to the latest Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) rankings. Its achievements include establishing the Initial Campus with a built area of (150k) m²; producing (12670) graduates; and publishing (1062) articles in high IF journals in the past nine years. Currently construction of a new green campus site is underway, while the full array of educational services is currently offered at the founding site.
The University of Nizwa embarks upon its mission to revive that well established seat of knowledge through a 21st century productive university that shall strive to be a beacon for knowledge and enlightenment, with three primary functions: dissemination of knowledge through teaching, contribution to knowledge production through research and contribution to development through community service.
