Indian Astrophysicist, Dr. Saibal Ray, an Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata is interested in the field of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Cosmology. He has been invited by the University of Nizwa to deliver lectures and joint research activities.

He delivered his first Informative Lecture on "All about Holes: Black Holes, Grava Star, White Holes and Worm Holes" has been delivered on Thursday, September, 28^th 2017. The talk was attended by faculty members as well as students. In this talk he introduced some basic aspects of the astrophysical bizarre objects which are the end products due to gravitational death trap following Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity.

Dr. Rays’ second lecture was entitled "Story of the Universe: from Worm Hole to Accelerating Universe" dealing with the tale of the Universe with a historical background in connection to the modern concept of cosmology following Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. The lecture was scheduled on Thursday, October 5^th at the University of Nizwa.

University of Nizwa faculty members have planned to conduct  joint research activities with Dr. Ray in the future.

At the end of the seminars, Dr. Ghassan Hasan Al Shatter, Dean of CAS, presented a gift to Dr. Ray in appreciation of his effective participation.

The audience showed great interest in the talks.
