The 11th of december, the CAS organized a seminar on Ethics and Biosafety in Research, delivered by the UoN Dean of Research, Dr Ahmed Kalifa Shukaili. 

Ethics is paramount in modern research, in particular when a project deals with human beings, social groups or anthropological realities. The subjects of a study need to be well respected, their identity must be protected, and their input must remain confidential. The researchers ought to respect a certain amount of rules to implement an ethical procedure. 

Dr Shukaili's seminar covered many crucial points concerning ethics, such as "informed consent", "authorship" and "conflicts of interests". It was well appreciated by an audience coming from scientific departments. The Q&A session was very lively and interesting, with stories coming from the rich experience of the Dean of research.

Based on this successful event, the College will continue this professional development program on research and research supervision.
