The 12^th of February 2019, three faculty members from CAS went to Sohar to participate in a research event called “TOWARDS SPREADING THE CULTURE OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION”, hosted by the College of Applied Sciences of Sohar, and sponsored by the TRC. Dr Guillaume Thouroude ADGSR, Dr Met’eb (English section) and Ms Hajer Nahdi (German section) drove the whole way from Nizwa to Sohar to represent UoN and CAS in a rich and interesting day.

What the organizers called a “Multidisciplinary Research Link” consisted of three sessions of papers on Arabic literature, mathematics and business, preceded bytwo keynote speakers from SQU and from the College of Applied Sciences of Rustaq. DrShahid Al Belushi (SQU College of Economics) gave a talk about Lean philosophy and the search of productivity in research management; and Dr Reynaldo GachoSegumpan (HOD Business Administration, Rustaq) reflected on the benefits research events can have in Higher Education Institutions.

MsHajer, Dr Guillaume and Dr Met’eb have made a significant effort to attend this event, and they can testify that research and innovation are a crucial aspect of academic life and necessitates a long and hard work to make it a culture in Omani Universities.
