The Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Nizwa held an online workshop titled “Translation and the Labour Market” on Monday, April 12^th. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Hamood Al Hooti, the General Manager of Altarjuman Global for Legal Translation. The workshop covered important issues such as how to get hired, difficulties faced by fresh graduates and job seekers, potential career opportunities for translation graduates in Oman in the public and private sectors as well as the opportunities of starting your own business in the domain of translation. The workshop also explored future/ new careers for translation graduates such as copywriting and other careers that require two languages or more. An active discussion followed the presentation during which the translation major students and graduates participated sharing their thoughts, aspirations and concerns regarding their future careers in the translation domain.
