On April 28, 2018, Ms. Sheikha Mohammed al Mukhaini, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bridging student, won Best Research Paper Award in the recently concluded International Conference on Recent Innovation in Science, Engineering and Technology (ICRISET) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Ms. Sheikha participated in the oral presentation category and presented her final year project entitled “A Study to Assess the Family and Social Life among Nurses Working Night Shift Duty at Nizwa Hospital, Oman” under the supervision of Ms. Vijayalkshmi Gopalan, a School of Nursing faculty member. Her paper was well-received by the audience as an eye-opener to the negative outcomes of night duties in the family and social life of nurses. However, despite these unfavorable effects, the nurses try their best to adjust well to the nature of their job and serve their patients well.

The international event was sponsored by the Institute for Scientific and Engineering Research (ISER) and was participated by researchers from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, India, China and the Sultanate of Oman. Submitted research articles were peer-reviewed by the program and technical committees of the conference. The event served as an excellent avenue for sharing scientific knowledge and results in an international platform.
